Like Scotland and like London, Catalonia should have the right to decide its own future.
The Spanish government’s harsh repression of the Catalan independence movement is foolish and undemocratic.
We in Londependence take no position on the question of whether Catalonia should seek independence. That is a matter for the people of Catalonia, not us. But either way, the seven and half million people who live in Catalonia should have the right to determine their own future. That’s simple democracy, and the question of Catalan independence will never be settled by refusing to allow the Catalans themselves to vote on it.
